  • The Heber City Municipal General Election will be held November 5, 2019 for three (3) City Council Members, each with a 4-year term. 
  • Candidate filing period is Monday, June 3, through Friday, June 7, 2019. Declaration of Candidacy forms or Nomination Petitions must be filed in person with the City Recorder at 75 North Main, Heber City, Utah, during the hours of 8:00 am - 5:00 pm.
  • In accordance with Heber City Code, individuals filing as candidates for the Heber City Council shall pay a $50.00 fee at the time of filing their candidacy with the City Recorder. This filing fee shall be refundable only if it is determined that the person filing is not qualified to be a candidate, or who is found to have improperly filed. (Ord. 2003-25, 2003)

Candidate eligibility:

  1. You must be a registered voter
  2. You must be a resident of the municipality (City of Heber) or recently annexed territory for 12 consecutive months immediately before the date of the election.
  3. In accordance with Utah Constitution Article IV, Section 6, any mentally incompetent person, any person convicted of a felony, or any person convicted of treason or a crime against the elective franchise may not hold office in this state until the right to hold elective office is restored.

Important dates for the Primary:

Wednesday, June 3rd through Friday, June 7thFiling period for Declaration of Candidacy Forms or Nominating Petition. Forms must be filed with the City Recorder during the hours of 8:00 a.m.—5:00 p.m.
*City Offices will be closed on Friday, June 7th, but will be open for Declaration filing only
Wednesday, June 19thCandidate Orientation Meeting, 6:00 p.m.—Council Chambers at City Hall
Monday, July 1stDeadline for Candidates to submit 200—word bio for the State Voter Information Website
Tuesday, July 23rdVote-by-Mail ballots to be mailed (21 days before Election Day.)
Each registered voter will be mailed a ballot with instructions
Tuesday, August 6thEach candidate who will participate in the Municipal Primary shall file a Campaign Finance Statement with the City Recorder no later than seven days before the Primary Election
Tuesday, August 13thMunicipal Primary Election Day. City Office Building opens at 7:00 a.m. and closes at 8:00 p.m. Vote-by-Mail ballots can be dropped off during those hours
Ballots will not be accepted after 8:00 p.m.
Tuesday, August 27thMunicipal Primary Election Canvass (verification of election results)


Important dates for the General Election:

Tuesday, September 3rd or before

Last day a write-in Candidate can file a Declaration of Candidacy for the Municipal General Election and pay the $50 filing fee (65 days before the General Election)

Thursday, September 12th

Deadline for Candidates who were eliminated at the Primary Election to submit a financial disclosure report (30 days after the Primary Election)

Tuesday, October 15th

Vote-by-Mail ballots to be mailed (21 days before Election Day)

Each registered voter will be mailed a ballot with instructions

Tuesday, October 29th

Each candidate who is not eliminated in the Municipal Primary shall file a Campaign Finance Statement with the City Recorder no later than seven days before the General Election, and no later than 30 days after the General Election

Tuesday, November 5th

Municipal General Election Day. City Office Building opens at 7:00 a.m. and closes at 8:00 p.m. Vote –by-Mail ballots can be dropped off during those hours

Ballots will not be accepted after 8:00 p.m.

Tuesday, November 19th

Municipal General Election Canvass (verification of election results)

Thursday, December 5th

Deadline for filing the Campaign Financial Reporting Statements (30 days after the General Election)

Tuesday, January 7th
