Heber Food Service Establishments and Manufactures
What is F.O.G.?
FOG stands for FATS, OILS and GREASE
It is the number one cause of sewer system blockages in Heber City. FOG sticks to the walls of your plumbing and the sewer system and can build up over time. Eventually, it can block your plumbing or the sewer system.
How does F.O.G. affect YOU!
Blockages in your plumbing or the sewer system can result in back-ups and sewer overflows. FOG related overflows can result in property damage, environmental damage and civil penalties and fines. You may be held liable for all damages and clean-up costs for a business caused back-up. FOG and chemical loading at the Heber Valley Special Services District is also increasing sewer treatment costs placing upward pressures on your sewer treatment rates.
What YOU Should Know
Heber City will be considering the establishment of a Pretreatment FOG Program for all food service establishments and certain auto and manufacturing companies. The intent of the Program is to prevent sewer blockages and reduce loading at the Heber Valley sewer treatment plant by requiring all Food Service Establishments to have a grease trap or interceptor. The Program will also entail annual inspections and fines for violations.
Heber City will hold two informational meetings on the proposed FOG program on Wednesday, December 5 at 8:00 a.m. and 3 p.m. in Heber City Hall located at 75 North Main Street, Heber City, Utah. You are invited to attend one of the two informational meetings to learn more about the proposed FOG program and provide feedback.
